Welcome to Síológ, a collection of high quality, ethically made childrenswear and lifestyle products from independent Irish brands.
As a mum of twin girls trying to buy more sustainably for my own family, it struck me that it would be great to have a central source of ethically made children’s clothing and lifestyle products that was all from Irish brands - making it easier for parents to find beautiful sustainable products for their children while also supporting our local independent businesses.
Síológ (pronounced ‘shee-lowg’) is the Irish word for seedling. Our name is important because it encapsulates our three core values:
- the kids, our own little ever-growing seedlings - the main event here!
- the natural world and the environment that we so urgently need to protect
- Irish businesses, culture and people.
We are really excited to bring together a range of Irish brands who are doing their best to help people shop ethically and sustainably and who are thinking consciously about things like materials, packaging, and the social impact of their production.
It is a real privilege to announce our charity partnership with LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, providers of specialist palliative and supportive care services to meet the needs of children with life limiting conditions and their families in Ireland.
We have pledged to donate 1% of our total turnover to LauraLynn, so every purchase you make from us goes towards supporting the work of this wonderful organisation.
We know that the most sustainable way of shopping is probably to not buy anything at all!
However we understand that children have a habit of growing, and when it comes to buying for them we can still have an impact by making the decision to support companies and brands that are doing things a little differently.
While no one brand or product will tick every box when it comes to sustainability (that’s a lot of boxes!), we look for Irish brands that have a combination of the following in their products and processes:
organic - GOTS certified - Oeko Tex certified - fair wages and working conditions - natural - renewable - recycled - recyclable - biodegradeable - compostable - cruelty free - plastic free - hand made - small batches - locally designed and/or produced
We seek out well made, stylish and affordable children’s clothes; sustainable items that can be worn and passed on from sibling to sibling and that will stand the test of time.
